I'm starting a series of interviews with developers and designers from all over the world. Whether they work for a corporation, freelance, or they make stuff as a hobby, I want to interview them! Originally I was going to release a new interview every Monday, however due how hectic and random my weeks are, I'll release a new interview each week.
Hi there, thank you for taking the time to chat with me :) Could you start by introducing yourself a little?
Hello there! My name is Amber Weinberg and I'm a front-end developer. I specialise in WordPress and mobile development. I run my own business, so I get to sit at home in my jammies all day and do nothing (well, ok, not really!). Something interesting about myself? I enjoy British History, knitting, crafts and reading!
How did you end up in your profession?
I've always coded. Back when I was about 12 and the internet was a baby, I hopped on board the HTML table train and began creating website after website.
What does your desk look like?
Ack I can't take a pic of it now, it's got too much crap that I'm working on now ;)
Could you give us a bit of information on any tools/services that you use?
Computer wise, I'm running a newer Macbook Air with Apple's bluetooth keyboard and Magic mouse. I also have a 22" HP monitor hooked up as a secondary (or really the main one) as well.
I use Apple's "Spaces" feature extensively. I code on Coda2 on the main screen with Photoshop (the new subscription version) on the right monitor in Space 1. In Space 2, I have Chrome and Apple Mail. In Space 3 I run my client management software, mainly Billings and iCal. I use Asana for project management and lots of physical notepads and pens for coding and notes.
What websites do you visit daily?
You'll be surprised that I hardly visit any web dev related sites. I mainly visit:
Do you have anything awesome happening in the future?
Yep! Lots giving lots of exciting talks in the next couple of months, as well as working on a book deal.
How and where can we find you?
http://www.amberweinberg.com or on Twitter @amberweinberg
Thank you for being the first person to take the time for my interview - and best wishes on your book, I shall definitely be purchasing, even if it's knitting related!
